One use of wargames is to allow players to examine hypothetical situations. Brezhnev's War: NATO versus the Warsaw Pact in Germany, 1980 examines the military balance in Germany, NATO's Central Front, at a time when the 'correlation of forces' was most favorable to the Warsaw Pact. Could the Soviet Union and its allies have militarily shifted the geopolitical balance in Europe at that time without either side crossing the nuclear threshold? Perhaps the real risk would have been that putting such cool calculations into violent practice would have opened up too many intangible factors outside the central control of either alliance, leading to a much wider disaster. Fortunately this possibility was never tested.

This game is a fast playing, easy to learn monster game of operational combat in Europe. Play is expected to continue for most of the month of May. Contact Scot McConnachie for details.
