In May 1940, the most technologically advanced armies of the day encountered each other in what most expected would be a massive drawn out campaign that would probably decide the war in Europe. Instead the German army achieved one of the great upsets of military history, defeating the Allied armies and overrunning both the Low Countries and France in the space of 6 weeks. After this encounter, the Wehrmacht would turn east to meet its destiny on the steppes of Russia.

Victory in the West is GMT Games' first treatment of the 1940 campaign for the West. Designed by veteran SPI designer David Ritchie, the game includes rules for the Maginot line, the adaptation of the respective armies to "blitzkrieg" tactics, airborne assaults, refugees, and dependency of motorized forces on the capture of all too important bridgeheads.

This will be a team game. The first session will be rules familiarization playing the Fortress Holland scenario. If there is sufficient interest we may break out second copy or study the campaign from different perspective using Ted Raicer's Case Yellow.
